Nestled in the heart of the Pokhara valley, beneath the towering peaks of the Annapurna range, St. Ann's Catholic Church has become a spiritual home for Catholics and visitors alike. Whether you're a long-time resident of Pokhara, a traveller passing through, or simply curious about our parish, we want you to know: everyone is welcome here.
The story of our Catholic Church in Pokhara began in 1977, when Father Akijiro Ooki, a Japanese Jesuit missionary, arrived in Nepal. For over three decades, his own home served as the primary gathering place for the small but devoted community of early believers. It wasn't until 2014 — thanks to the generosity of Father Ooki's friends and supporters — that our dedicated church building was completed.
Today, that building stands as more than just a place of worship. It's an architectural tribute to the blending of Japanese and Nepali culture, with a red-roofed silhouette that has become a familiar and welcoming sight in Bagale Tole, Pokhara-8.
St. Ann's Parish proudly serves a close-knit community of Catholic families in Pokhara, while regularly welcoming visitors of every faith background from across Nepal and around the world. Many come simply to see the church; many stay to worship, pray, or learn more about our community and its work.
We are also home to Shishu Bikash Kendra, a specialized outreach centre for children with developmental disabilities — a ministry that has been central to our parish's identity since its earliest days.
If you're searching for a Catholic Church in Pokhara, we'd love for you to visit. Holy Mass is celebrated throughout the week — see our Mass Schedule for exact timings — and our priests are always glad to welcome newcomers.
Whatever brings you to St. Ann's — curiosity, faith, or simply the search for a quiet place to reflect — you are welcome here.
